Little update for you folks, I've been doing a bit to the bodywork lately to get it ready to go off to the painters.
I've fitted the carbon RS500 front bumper and its hockey sticks from xsport using 4 bonnet pins, which Gary told me were red btw
Next I fitted the brand new base model grille which I'm thinking looks a bit different plus the grilles line up with where I the need air to flow and I don't need large headlights (only LEDs infact) so this is ideal and a lot cheaper to replace if broken.
Next we have a very lightweight f/glass bonnet with no internals and I've also removed the black grill from behind it at the base of the windscreen (mainly cos it was fooked and they are crap!). At the back of the car a matching tailgate also minus internals saves more precious weight and will be fitted with simple hinges and boot springs.
I still have to fit the perspex windows and the lighter doors and I have DTM mirrors to go on and perspex light covers for the grille.
That lot won't be too bad and then its off to have the white bits made a bit whiter and the black bits a bit blacker along with the arches and sills painted black
Oh and you may notice my recent purchase, a set of touring car wheels from team dynamics with wets on, there is also a matching set with slicks ready to bolt on presuming its ever sunny next year These wheels are gorgeous, awesome quality and they fit to within a millemeter everywhere even though they are 9x17s. The pics really don't do them justice
I have to say a huge thanks to Tony at www.touringcarspares.com for sorting the wheels and tyres they couldn't have worked out better and are unbelievable value for money (I thought he was pricing up second hand ones until he asked what colour to have them finished in )
Under the bonnet theres been a bit more cleaning up and removing of brackets and clips that aren't necessary. I also took the large battery tray out to make way for the T/Bs one day I put down a bit of red oxide primer too to stop any rot where water and crap had sat under the tray.
I have now removed the cups from the turrets which were for the strutbrace. They were incredibly thick ally with at least 7 M10 nuts and bolts holding each on on. Needless to say Gary can make something a lot neater and more practical for the strut braceplus the n/s one would possibly have fouled the airfilter
Thanks chaps, good to know that it looks ok, I know its a bit different but i'm going for the minimalist K.I.S.S approach and I think it will look good once its tidied up a bit and all stickerered up
I'm not too worried what the purists may think as this car had been well abused and forgotten so for it to come back to life and get to race again is something we'll be proud of

Cheers Ant, just wish I could get more time on it and a little more space. I might have to lock you in there and pass food under the door for a couple of weeks, will all be finished then easy...
