Yeah, taper slightly to the top of the port Gav. If they're completely round then it's just a standard head.

Dave, I think you'll find you wont

Re: DW's (new?) Sierra N/A PINTO race car

I found that the type 9 I'm fitting is around an inch and a half shorter than the T5 but I want to use the cossie prop.
I therefore set about moving the engine back the 1.5" to compensate and by happy coincidence the engine sat perfectly up to the bulkhead and the ashley manifold bought from burtons on saturday now 95% fits, which for an ashley manifold, meant for an escort, is feckin amazing

The engine is all bolted down on its mounts in this position and apart from a couple of small dinks being needed in the manifold to clear the engine mount and the column its all happy. Hopefully the ally bellhousing will have enough space (once I get one) and its all sorted

I also fitted the cossie rad which sits nice and low and where the std intercooler would go I have put a 13 row oil cooler. The remaining gap will be for induction and blanked off where not needed.
My kenlow from the zetec install in the escort also fits lovely so all of these bits are now mocked in place. Should be loads of room for a dry sump tank to sit with minimal pipe runs to the pump

Looking good indeed mate. If you're after an alloy bellhousing for a MK2 escort mate then R.A.C.E do them new for about £120.

it just occured to me you might be able to gain clearance for the steering shaft by knocking the shaft further onto the rack

I think 2 things I am doing will solve it. Firstly I will probably lower the angle of the column anyway as the seat will sit quite low and far back, and secondly even the thickness of a head gasket will make a difference as the manifold is only just touching the column and the head is sitting straight on the block atm.

I may have to make a little dink in the manifold just to clear the mount on that side though, its a tad tight now and is stopping the lower part of the manifold lining up with both top pieces

sounds good, although there will probably be more than the thickness of a head gasket skimmed off your head and block

that said a simple washer under the O/S engine mount wil soon offset any problems there

Well I checked tonight and my ports are egg shaped so I've got one here if you're still looking for one - a bit of surface rust but should clean up ok

                            couple questions.

                            Whats the diff ratio??

Are they any off the shelve crown wheel n pinion kits with a 4.4:1 or similar?

                            How heavy is your sierra?

hope i'm not being nosey jus tryin to find out some things.

you can buy 4.4:1 CWP's for the sierra diff but they are quite expensive being made for motorsport specifically because ford never made that ratio for the sierra i think the lovwest they made was a 3.9, most had 3.6 diff

yeah mines has a 3.6 diff, but it still surprises me on its acceleration and its only a 1600....but i suspect it may have in Type 3 gt box as its a 85 model.

Mines also weights 980kgs but its a 4door.
