    Re: Ford Fiesta Race Car

With the discs, might be worth putting 4 small grooves in with a 4mm ball-nose or something? I assume you have a rotary table at your disposal going by some of the machining you've done

      Re: Ford Fiesta Race Car

I did think about that, but its an extra machining operation with little benefit for me. On such a light FWD car the rear brakes really dont need to do much, certainly not enough work to glaze the pads/discs. The rear brakes are not even putting enough effort in to fully engage the pads on therear of the discs!

For perspective, I did 3 years on the set of shoes in the drums I ran with still lift left in them, in contrast to 5 sets of front pads in the same period.

Does it tend to lock the front brakes?

          Re: Ford Fiesta Race Car

i've known fwd racers grease the rear brake shoes to stop rear end lock up, one very quick championship winning and always front running fwd car i know has no rear brakes at all, so i dont see rear brakes doing next to nothing being an issue any more than when i ride my motorbike where you do 98% of all your braking on the front only

Not a big update but I got the lightened wheel spacers back today:

Also entry list and timetable are out for the next meeting on bank holiday monday 31st May.

There will be no tighter battle than that for class C honours in the National Mobile Windscreens Saloon Car championship race. Two Peugeot 106s and a Fiesta in the hands of Nick Charles from Yate, Will Di Claudio from Chippenham and Jason Cooper from Yatton Keynell respectively, qualified within thirteen hundredths of a second of each other at the last round. In the race, Cooper, the reigning overall champion, capitalised on his storming start to build an unexpected gap, whilst Charles and Di Claudio’s lap times were only four thousandths of a second different. This time they also have the rapid 106 of Bristol’s David Kift to contend with.

Ive had no in car camera apart from the first lap of round 1 qualifying, as the camcorder finally broke last time out. I had to sell my 4kam bullet camera setup last month to fund the engine. I should have a camera in for next race, but unsure what the quality will be like as its only cheap.

Ah shame, I thoroughly enjoyed watching last season's videos.

This is the first lap of round 1 quali before the camera cutout on the curbs

Remember I had had no meaningful testing prior to this and was only running 200bhp at the time.

                        Re: Ford Fiesta Race Car

To match the footplate I'm getting the data logging cover powdercoated orange

I'm also getting a new battery cover made, which I will draw up later and have a sponsor logo cut out the top too.

I have never been happy with my PI data logging loom that I originally made in quite a rush, and I have been getting some dodgy readings from one of the sensors recently.

So I'm going to remake the loom properly this time with some sheided cable etc.

After work today the front bumper was stripped and taken to body shop for a respray. The laquer decided it didnt want to stick anymore!

Also started on the new PI data logger loom tonight. 3 parts down, 3 to go.
