I have spent most of today trying to get the loom back in behind the dash and into the engine bay. I'm re-routing the engine loom to make it a bit tidier than it was before, but its a balance of getting the connectors to where they are supposed to be and it looking good!
I hope that by next weekend i will get it back up and running.
A lesson learnt for me is when removing a loom from a car is to label it up! Can anyone confirm if this is an earth terminal? I can't for the life of me remember what i took it off?!! It is part of the standard escort loom.
Well progress had holted for a few weeks as i had been off work with my foot in the air due to a broken toe!
Any way, got the pedal box back from the powder coaters, rebuilt it with new seals in all the cylinders (which was quite therapeutic once i had done the first one!). Put it all back together with new spring washers, and bushes to try and stop the pedals wobbling left to right.
I checked the bias was set to the front slightly before i put the box back in the car.
I also got Cossie Matts power steering back in - i think putting the steering column in on your own has got to be the worst job possible! What a bitch it was! Refitted the bias handle thing so i can adjust the bias whilst driving.
That was a few weeks ago, and so far this weekend i've got the battery box fitted, run in the wiring loom, through a new rubber grommet, from the boot to the front of the passenger foot well. I also put the earth cable in some yellow heat shrink - only a quid but it makes such a better job than yellow tape. I think it needs to be yellow for the MSA rules, but its been a long time since i read the blue book!
I managed to get the handbrake fitted in place next to the gear stick - i have to say it looks proper trick, even if i say so myself! I have run the brake hoses in place from the pedal box, to the hand brake, and then to the rear of the car.

I had another day out on the car today out in the sunshine.
I spent all day getting the two seats in. Started with the passenger one and unfortunately i couldn't get it as low as i liked due to the exhaust tunnel which is a new addition to the car. There is still a gap between the bottom of the seat and the seat rails so i will try at some point to modify the side mounts and get it lower at the back
I also got the drivers seats in but again i'm not happy with the final position - i've got a 4 litre extinguisher behind it on the floor. The seat needs to go back a bit so my legs are straighter. So i have either got to move it to somewhere else in the car (not sure where though!) or look at getting a smaller one. But i plan on doing the rallysprint in belgium next year so it needs to be 4 litres.
What extinguishers are you rally guys using and where have you mounted them?
Also i fitted my new light weight, 6 point harnesses

I'm using the smaller extinguishers mounted just in front of the seats but I'll have to upgrade to the large plumbed in type as also want to go to Belgium & perhaps Ireland. You normally see these mounted on the atlas tunnel or next to the link boxes
Paul,
I’m using a lifeline 2000 4L system, and it JUST fits behind my seat, I’ve got +10mm between the seat and the bottle. My seat is well back, and really low as I’m 6’ 4”, (it’s so low in fact that the rear seat bar is below the original floor level.)
I mounted the bottle to the link boxes cross member not the floor, and I “adjusted” the alloy mount to gain an extra few mm. If it’s mounted to the floor there wasn’t enough room for it. I can take a few pictures if you like.
My 4 litre extinguisher is mounted on the diff tunnel just behind the link box brace and is nicely out of the way of the seats. Some countries (e.g. Ireland whose rules follow the FIA quite closely) specify that they must be mounted to the floor, (but I assume the tunnel is counted as the floor as I've never had any comments), and also that the bottles must not be fitted forward of either crew members feet
When I rebuilt DVY the seat rails made the new seats far too high with the side mounts and I didn't want to modify the side mounts (my seats state they are only homologated with the manufacturers side mounts, but I think that is unusual), so I ended up cutting out the seat rails and bolted them through the floor with large thick plates either side, and now I have plenty of room above my head, although some of my codrivers have trouble seeing out!
