Hi guys and girls, gonna start a new thread here as the sierra we're building is going in such a different direction I think it warrants it.
It will run in class D of the DMN with Andy Pipe etc and will be a great deal simpler and cheaper to run than it would have been in class A. Will be a competitive, very reliable package too if we can get it right
Out came the V6 yesterday and in with a pinto that I have aquired as a dummy engine whilst my excellent new engine builder works on the real one. The dummy engine will enable me to fit all of the ancillaries around it and fully sort the engine bay, that way once the new one is done it will drop in and all be literally plug and play
The brief spec of the car will be as follows.
3 door motorsport shell, lightened as much as poss and running cossie suspension with leda coil-overs all round and hi spec monster 6 pots over 330mm discs up front (std cossie rears with race pads).
Racing dynamics 9x17 wheels with Dunlop btcc rubber.
Rough spec of the engine is a genuine 2.0 litre bottom end with wossner pistons and cossie rods. Injection head (if we can find one
) with big valves and a proven race profile camshaft.
Pace dry sump will be fitted for insurance and it looks like I'll probably go the throtttle body route as I already have an injection set up in the car and want to run full management anyway.
Gearbox will be a tranx type 9 (does anyone know if it fits the cossie prop?)
Here's the pinto ready to start having the exhaust and ancillaries fitted;

And a rough idea of the new look of the car, won't have a cossie grill or whale tail, but still have RS500 bumpers and arches. Will all get a little tickle from the painter once we're ready too, but wiil stay white and black
