I was thinking about building a race car to do some racing or even buying one nearly done but where do i find the rules so i know what sort of car i will need and what class i would be racing in, i fancy doing something like this as the expense should hopefully not be as bad as the top spec turbo stuff
the rules will vary depending on which clubs championship you want to take part in, but as a generalisation, its hard to find somewher to race cars which are not fitted with an engine which is origonal for teh body shell,

dunno if ive missed sumthing with the engine name tho[/quote]
He's named after Linford Christie, as it should be very fast but totally legal (under 2 litres )
Blame Graham for the name, but it is fitting as trying to find a block suitable for 1998cc that hadn't been bored and wasn't warn out was one of the hardest parts of the build. He could have just used my dummy pinto or a number of others we had access to which would have been fine with a +90 overbore (2.1) but Graham doesn't do cheating

Looks good, the stripes brteak up the white very well..
And is that an alternator bracket i can see in there??
Yes, I have a small alternator to go on as we'll be doing long test sessions and trackdays as well as the races plus it means we can run the smaller battery
It would run fine for short races/ sprints without one but it is a bit of hassle to chop and change as the webcon crank sensor isn't designed for a crank to waterpump only belt, it sits right in the middle of the 3 pulleys of a normal fan belt, so chances are we'll fit Andy's mk1 with the same setup as mine too
