Cracking job you have made on the manifold and hopefully you should reep the benefit once its all welded an fitted

Shame about the oil pump but at least you noticed the crack now rather than on the track

Thanks mate! I really really hope so too. But thats the thing with manifolds. You work countless hours on them without any real proof real improvements. But if nothing else is gained one still gains some experience. All (3) my manifolds are home made so I'm confident thres still alot to improve.

Yes the crack was a kick in the nuts but the oil leak is now sorted but still need to do the timing which is quite laborius.

Thanks thats always good to hear. I used it in the finnish Roadsport series. Sort of a super saloon class for pre 1985 two wheel drive cars.

                Oh you

I didn´t pay attention to equal lenghts too much but I'd say their all well within 10mm of each other. And the secondaries too.

Re: Escort Sigma 1600 Race Car

Revised lower alternator bracket. And a new oil pump cover.

Hopefully the longer bracket will spread the load more even not crack the corner so easily. I also used nylon washers below the bracket to hopefully absorb some of the vibration.

Theres always something with new parts. This time the exact replicas of the GP1 hubs were not suitable with my brake bells like the previous alli hubs.
They fauled the taper in the bells and did not sit right at the bottom.

Quick sdrub test proved it. No scrub mark at the bottom face of the bell. But the marked line is cut on the upper side.

So the new hubs needed a bit of grinding.

Now they keep away from the edges and sits flat to the bells.

                  See?

                  Shiny new hubs istalled.

Looks better than the previous one

I've read that the primaries don't have to be exactly the same anyways . good spot on that hub , a lot of guys wouldnt notice that,

Re: Escort Sigma 1600 Race Car

Just oedered a new set of Kumho V70A Medium compound semi slicks Cant't wait to compare them to my current A048's. I bet their seconds if not tens of seconds faster per lap than the Yokohamas.

And the engine is now fully assembled, timed and running. I'm ready !

This between races service has proved quite comprehensive. Hopefully it will result in a trouble free weekend... ... .... yeah right

That remains to be seen. They sure have a worthy advesory. I have nothing to complain about the A048's. Except the price. These Kumho's have made their debut in our class and I've not heard anyone badmouthing them so naturally I have to see for my self.

They sure mounted the wheels a lot easier than the Yokohamas, so they propably have a bit softer sidewall. Could not tell the difference too obviously by hand though. Not that that says anything really...
