nice motor mate:thumb:the only license you need for sprinting is a speed national b;)all you have to do is send off for one.thats it:woohoo:i think it costs about 60 something quid for the year.only thing is they end at the end of the year so if you apply now you will only get 6 months worth for youre money:(as for classes it all depends as to what championship you enter because there are sooo many varients.for an example if you were to do a sprint which my dad does you would go in class c6.which is 1000cc-1400cc modified class.:thumb:i think youre car would be quite a good front runner aswell because there are not many cars that enter that sort of class.mostly minis but dont get me wrong.they are fast:clint::thumb:

Jezz, I'll try and get you the date of the next sprint at North Weald .. i'm sure we can find a competitor who can put your name at the gate to get you in, and then you can have a nosey around and get some info/feel for it :thumb:

The best licence is the non race national B go to www.msauk.org (http://www.msauk.org) for more info.Contact sutton and cheam motor club they run sprints in your area, www.twmc.co.uk s all circuit championship is good too. Hope to see you about:thumb:

Thanks for that Gary it is a tony law 4 into 1 but someone has welded the primaries into the collector and has cracked the collector the metal is pretty thin ,but i think i have managed to bodge it up temporaraly i welded a new part onto it and i think that has stopped it blowing :thumb: but i have now noticed the rad is leaking so i will have to get a new one :stu: and there is an oil leak looks like its coming from the head gasket :stu:

Pushrod King
22-05-2007, 21:18
They usually leak from the dizzy or cam seals but rarely the head gasket itself:thumb:

Toymex
22-05-2007, 21:25
I will look a bit closer when i get a chance but at first glance it looks like the head gasket just under no3 plug

Well it was on gaz mk1s m8s dyno yesterday it made 113 bhp 96lb ft need to get some new idle jets for it other than that everything is fine,he seemed quite impressed for a 1300 just need to sort a new clutch then it should be ready for a few events

Let me know how you go on

Toymex
09-08-2007, 19:57
Hello forktruck not used it in competition yet the head gasket has just gone the head needed skimming luckily for me a chap down the road builds these engines for oval cars he has skimmed the head ,indexed the valves changed the valve springs as the over the nose pressure was very low and he has re-timed the cam as it was set for far to much duration on the inlet ,it has a kent ast 18 cam which should make power all the way to 8100 but it was dropping off at about 6800 before according to the r/r so he has set it for a different duration but i havent had a chance to try it in anger yet but it does feel as though it starts to really come alive at

No leave it as a 1300 screamer :thumb:

The handling will more than make up for the speed deficit
I was out in the cappucino a lot and that was limited to 88mph on the straight but what a laugh through the twisties :thumb::cool::D

Great day and yes there is a lot of Love for the Nova sport over on R-Rides :thumb::cool:

Toymex
20-04-2008, 18:49
Let sounds good Dave but if i was to do anything it would be an 1800 as i was told they are the same size block etc and to the un informed would look just like a 1300 i would need twin 45,s but my engine builder said i could probably do with 45,s on the 1300 any way

I'm usually the last to say such a thing but if it's a genuine Sport, I'd be inclined to leave it as it is.

I know what your saying but when everything is blasting past down long straights it gets you thinking:D

dangerousdave

And its hardly a standard low mileage never thrashed car anyway :D

Go for it jezz :thumb:

Straights are boring :p

I'm sure that the 1800/2000 Family 2 lumps are the 'big block' ones.

Buy a different rally-prepped Nova for a monkey and throw an LET in.

The Sport would be too much of a demon in the twisties to ruin it...

Well i have been busy with my new shell and have changed my mind with the car a bit ,rather than a trackday toy i am hoping to go racing in the DMN next year,i started by having the cage welded to the rear wheel arches, then after talking to Andy who does my engine and used to rallycross novas and helps a few hotrod boys he convinced me to run 10 inch wide wheels he even offered to lend me his to try ,i didnt take much convincing,we also decide to go wide track ,i am going in class e against some very quick minis so we are going to need every bit of help we can get:D.
So off to Garys we went to have the rear tubbed and the cage welded to the front turretts,it was also decided it would be a good idea to change the strut tops for some of Garys slotted ones ,i am also having some bottom arms fabricated which are longer to give us the wide track and also to give us camber adjustment along with rose jointed tie bars to give caster adjustment
So here are a few pics ,i think i am going to have trouble getting a wide arch kit that is wide enough to cover the arches

Looking good jezz :) with regards to the kit, there was a white nova round my way a few years back (i think bigrod off osf may have owned it, or would definately know of it as it was at the end of the road where his vauxhall breakers is!) but that had a massively wide arch kit on it, maybe a rallycross one and the rear lights were mounted in the arches and the boot was filled in where the old light holes were!!

More pics of the outside and the new tubs please ;)

Toymex
06-10-2008, 19:59
Hi Dave i am getting the rallycross kit but i still dont think it will be wide enough,as it is at the moment before we have fitted the wide track lower arms the wheels stick out about 4 inches allready,so by the time the longer bottom arms are on that will be 6 inches
I think a decision will have to made, standard track,8 inch wheels or extend the arches even more,
How easy is fibre glass to work with Carlos vandango here we come:D
I cant get any pics of the outside at the moment as it is wedged in my back garden under a gazebo
