      Re: my new nova

Thanks for the support it really helps keep the motivation up ,but with a new house that needs restoring and a busted engine and box i cant see me making any more races this year, but the new engine is underway so with a bit of luck i will be out next year for a few more races Good luck Dave with the rest of the season i reckon you will be a force to be reckoned with on the slightly longer circuits where the pinto can stretch its legs

Well i am no mechanic but i dont think this should look like this

I will have to speak to Andy to see if its worth rebuilding as we are allready building a 1600 so if its going to be lots of greif and exspense then i will not bother

unless you have a minimum of a well baffled sump you probably killed it with oil surge,

its not for nothing that myself andy pipe and dave all run dry sumps

I agree. Well baffled sump is a must. I ran my pinto with baffled sump for years with no problems. Since this Zetec SE has no keys or keyways in the main or big end bearings I chose the dry sump lubrication too.

Dry sump kits are expensive, but race engines are even more expensve so its worth ensuring they last as long as possible imho

Jezz.. its an expence, but looking at your car at Lydden, your turning in at high speeds mate..and carrying that spped through the corners, you aint got the grunt of the other cars, and they didnt out drag you .... which means you flying in the corners..

You need a dry sump ... to finish first...first you need to finish

                            Re: my new nova

I know about the sump and i have a swindon gated sump to go on the new engine although a dry sump has been mentioned ,but i will have to see how funds are, this engine was never built with racing and 10 inch slicks in mind so we did suspect we may have trouble ,it was only meant to do trackdays on road tyres at a very least we will run an accusump on the new one so we should avoid this problem but it will stop us revving the new one past 8k

Try to get the new lump dry sumped jezz, but if you cant I still have your accusump sitting here as a bit of extra insurance

And Garys right, you wont need much more power to get further up the field, not the way that thing corners
