      Positive mental atitude ..

Like i said last week.. relax and bring it home in one piece... you did it.
Next time out... you'll know where your going

As for the CoC ... he gets told a new driver is out and may be slow. so keep an eye out.. he then says they said you where slow, but he then says, you did ok.. thats a pat on the back mate..

First time out in a championship thats as big as the DMN ... well done mate

          Re: my new nova

I have got a new seal for the input shaft to stop the oil from getting onto the clutch and i am putting a slightly bigger clutch in so we are going to fit a new flywheel aswell so i have got to wait for andy to lighten it for me ,in the mean time ,through a mate i have managed to get a new btb manifold as the collector is knackered on my tony law and i cant stop it blowing

THis is the new manifold compared to an old ashley one

            Re: my new nova

Well some of you may know i have been struggling with the gear change on the car for somewhile it has been stopping me from exploring the limits of the car and stopping me from learning how hard to push as everytime you came to a bend that involved a gear change it was hit and miss as to what gear you were going to get i have also buzzed the engine on numerous occasions and it was only a matter of time before it went pop, so i have set about making a new gerchange for it which involves some very expensive helicopter joints

That looks much better jezz, at least all of that horrible nylon has gone.
I'm sure that a positive gearchange will make a world of difference to driving the car as it seems like you have got pretty much everything else sussed already

Looks Nice Jezz. How much better does it feel at the lever?

I know they are expensive but I think they last pretty well.

it'll be great to finally enjoy the car instead of struggling against it. Hope it goes well mate

Nice linkage ! Those joints are not cheap but seem to do the job properly.

When my mate did his he used a huge rose joint as a support where it goes through the bulkhead, its a very positive gearchange thats for sure

Hi Jon i have seen the thread of your mates car on png ,lovely car if i am honest we did borrow a few of your mates ideas as there seem to be lots of people struggling to get this to work first time and the angles all seemed about right the way your mate has done it

I forgot you were on PNG, not that suprising as you own a nova though lol

It certainly seems to work well, that car has some BIG changes coming up over the next few months, well when his crank finally shows up !

                            Re: my new nova

Well i left early saturday morning for the trip to lydden a little more nervous than i was for my first race at brands on arrival the paddock was full but we just managed to find a place for the car but had to leave the trailer at the top of the hill with the spare tyres on it just praying i didnt need them in a hurry i still was,nt overly happy with the new gearchange i couldnt get 5th but i didnt need it a lydden and the rest of the gears were ok ,so practice came and out i went first time i had driven the car since trigs trackday i did 1 lap to warm the car a bit then got a bit excited and started to push a bit early and ended up spinning on the exit of paddock bend i have managed to do that both times i have driven the car here
After collecting my thoughts on the infield i rejoined the circuit and drove like the novice i ami managed to qualify in a 48.4 12 hundreths behind Nick in his escort so i was quite pleased with that, and the only target i had set myself was to improve my lap time.

In the parade lap i was behind a mini and alongside Nick , with the bda escort behind me , the flag dropped and i was still a bit slow away but managed to keep nick in sight right up untill the hairpin where i pulled alongside him only to have the bda escort pull alongside me so we were 3 abreastat the hairpin which was never going to work i squeezed Nick as much as i could withou forcing him of the track but the bda escort didnt leave me enough room and duly caught my rear arch but i managed to stay infront all the way down the hill along the start finish straight round chessons then into the devils elbow i went in a bit quick on cold rear tyres got a bit sideways lost momentum and the escort out dragged me up the hill i followed him for a couple of the lapsthen at chessons he just seemed to brake i thought that there may have been a flag or something and braked but Dave told me later he was just having a moment i was not paying enough attention this let Dave get in sight and where i had lost momentum again he gained on me upto the devils elbow and went to go up the inside then i think he thought better of it,he probably saw the damaged rear wing and thought he didnt want to scrape his shiny paintwork
I now had the bit between my teeth and set out to pass the escort and seemed to be quicker than him ,i was catching him and i felt quicker everywhere round the circuit ,just as i was getting close enough to have a go i went to get 2nd gear at the hairpin but nothing tried third and got that so set to try to regain the lost time on the escort but after losing 2nd i was not as quick then shortly after that i noticed the water temp was up then all of a sudden as i came off the throttle to brake it stalled but restarted when i dropped the clutch but had a nasty rattle so i backed off and made my way back to the pits. we let it cool down and restarted it but it had a bad rattle so called it a day, which was a good choice as when we went to start it to put it on the trailer it wouldnt even turn over
So to sum up my day i smashed my rear wing broke my gearbox and blew up my engine but had such a laugh and actually acheived what i wanted when i decide to go racing and that was to actually race wheel to wheel
I also managed to improve my qualifying time and did a 47.9which was just under half a second quicker than the bda escort

Nice write up jezza, you were flying around and it was a great shame that you couldn't make the 2nd race.

I only had one chance of a run at you but trust me it wasn't my car i was worred about damaging and it would have had to be a bit of a cheaky lunge to be honest, and at this stage of my racing simply not worth risking having us both off.

You were flying round the back of the circuit though and where I might have had a chance against the escort you were too quick round there for me to get a run at you into the elbow or the hairpin where my car is really good under breaking.

Hope you get it all sorted soon, you have a while before Brands at least.
