Hi Phil ,its going to be a reasonable spec steel rods, omega intruder pistons ,heads been heavily flowed wasted stem valves etc ,cams are engine builders spec then its got sbd titanium valve retainers etc, still going to be running the webers but on mbe mapped ignition oh and dry sumped to avoid the previous problems.
Hopefully it should go allright and make a bit more than the old 1400
I have started to put it back together as this is going to rev a bit higher than the old engine it was decided an oil cooler was needed so i got an ebay special setrab cooler at a decent price might be a bit big but we can blank some off if need be i also bought an ally rad as the standard one was going to struggle ,this one has a 40mm core and was cheap at £140.00
Started to plumb the dry sump system i will finish the rest when the engine is in
The gearkit has been built into an f13 casing to suit the new engine Andy found a few issues with the gearkit that he thinks was causing some of the selection issues ,2nd gear was fcuk,d from the last race at Llyden so that was changed.
I have mounted the ecu and wired it i am not sure if its wired right as wiring instructions are hard to come by i think there might be an issue with the fuel pump as it doesnt come on when the ign is switched on ,so i might just put a switch back on it,i have got to put the plugs for the coil t.p.s and c,p.s and that will be the wiring finished again that will wait untill the engine is in so i can get the lengths nice and neat
I have moved the battery to the passenger side footwell as it stopped me from putting a seat in and i want to do a few trackdays in it and get Andy to sit beside me for a bit of tuition and also to see if he has any advice regarding suspension setup
I have moved the switches to beside the drivers seat as i struggled to reach them before with my harness on so i took a leaf out of Andy and Daves book
really do like this car never really apreciated novas but i love this!
good luck with the engine build hope it all goes back ok and you can get a good season racing

Nice switch box, interior looking good now. Cant you find the ecu diagrams online. I think MBE aren't so forthcoming with their intructions as DTA though
Engine bay looks nice too, when will the engine be dropped in?

I can get pin locations for the ecu ,but its things like the can high and low are for instance pin 16 and 17 but it doesnt tell you what pins they go to on the other end if that makes sense,
as for the engine Andy is waiting for the block to be honed but they have had it for a couple of weeks allready ,they are busy and are doing it as a favour so we will just have to wait, once its back we can crack on as we have everything bar the head gasket which we have got to wait untill its built to work out the thickness required.
I have got to say Dave your car looks so much better with a yb in there

can high and low are can bus connections, (control area network) only applicatly to modern production cars which use can bus networks to control things like ABS, traction control and consumer electrics, i cant se you needing can bus on your nova

Graham they are the connections used for the programming ,i only used them as an example its pretty much most of the connections t.p.s ,crank sensor that i can get a schedule of pins at the ecu but not the other end, i dont think its going to be too much of a problem the most worrying thing is the lack of fuel pump but i think i will recheck to make sure i havent missed an earth at the ecu
spec sounds very nice matey. ive got another c16xe'd gsi that ive now killed twice 1st time burst water pipe under inlet so thought best do the head, ported, etc, new belt kit...lasted 20miles and idler sheared.....not happy, so ive got some steel rods, cp hi-comp pistons, going to do abit more to the head. keeping stock valved as only a road car, bike carbs, then either newman 270's, catcams 282's or i may ask newman to grind me some 280s. should be ok to get me too work lol.
whats your thread on png? i havent found it yet, and is andy (gaz'd and andy) whos had info on the new engine build?
