    Re: my new nova

Looking very nice Jezza, although I think you could do with the reverse head to get a bit of ram effect through the front. At least the scooby duct should get some air in there though.
Liking the exhaust, very neat. Was there a lot of room for it?

Hi Dave they dont do a reverse head for this engine ,its only the big block 2.0xe that the reverse head fits,i am hoping the bonnet scoop will help with airflow for the carbs i might make some sort of duct from the scoop iif i can be arsed
The exhaust was nice and easy but i think it may be a bit loud ,i will measure it when we go to run it in ,i have a cherry bomb that i will fit if need be but it weighs a ton so i am hoping to not have to fit it.

Hows your engine build coming along are you hoping to get a race or 2 in this year ?

Have you tried BASALT for silencer packing . I use it and it lowered my db's from 105 plus to 98 to 102 depending on the operator and weather. Rob

                Re: my new nova

Well today was nova day again today and it was time to look at the suspension, when we fitted the custom tie bars before they were a bit long and we couldnt get more than 1 degrees castor so i had some more bars made a little shorter so we could get a bit more castor this all went well but when we put the tracking gauges on it was toeing in mileswe have never had this before so tried to adjust it but run out of adjustment before we were near where it needs to be that was really strange as it has allways been perfect as we allways check it before every session, then Andy being the clever person he is said its allmost as if the hub steering arm is bent ,that reminded me that last time out at lydden when i lost 2nd gear at the hairpin i was concentrating on trying to get a gear that i hit the curb hardso we think that this is the problem so i need to get a new hub and that should sort it
Then it was time to put it on the scales i was hoping to get under 700 kilo,s ,Andy thought i was being optomistic as the stock rods he builds engines for very rarely weigh under 720 kg and they have nothing in them ..
The good news is that it was very nearly spot on as far as corner weighting goes which i wasn,t surprised about as it handled so well and felt well balanced it needed a slight adjustment on the drivers front so slight adjustment of the coilover and all was good, bad news is it weighs just under 790kgs which is more than i thought it has 65/35 weight distribution which i was quite pleased with as there doesnt appear to be anything much in the back, there are a few things that Andy is putting the weight down too,we have got steel wheels which he thinks we could lose as much as 20kg by getting alloys and he said there is more than 10kgs to be lost by scraping the underseal off and the fibreglass bonnet and tailgate i have got have full internals so are still quite heavy for fibreglass ,so they are going to be meeting my hole saw.
I might have to investigate fibreglass bumpers aswell to see if i can save a bit of weight

                  Re: my new nova

Jez ,you need it to weigh at least 850kgs to meet the new regs for 16v FWD cars in class E. (8v RWD is 740kgs)
