Thanks. I'm not sure the scrutineers would like the filter stuck on the end as they have picked me up before for not having a catch tank on the breather, so i was going to block it off with a bit of hose and a bolt stuck in the end - high quality stuff!!

I've seen a lot of dry sumped XE run sealed without problem, but I also know a few people who insist the vacuum deforms the crank seal and causes a leak. Personally I'd stick a filter on it, and carry a length of hose, bolt and a couple of jubilee's to scrutineering

Prefer to compete against each other but I'm up for a bit of co driving if you needed a nav, I could think of a few other that may be more suitable, as you know I'm not the smallest person to be having in the silly seat

Yep, let me know about the lenses.

Thats interesting, as before the rebuild it did leak a lot out the crank seal and that was with the breather. I think the JRE engines run with no oil breather off the cam cover.

I'm not sure i'd be any competition for you mate. Before i stripped the car down two years ago i was trying to break into the top 20 for a finish! Your top 10 all day long

Here's a close up of the lens for you. I gave it a tap and it sounds plastic to me.

              Re: My MK2 Rally car

I had the steering column and fixing bracket powder coated this week. These come with Matt's power steering kit. I originally painted them satin black, but where it had been in and out so much they were scratched to buggery, so thought i'd do it properly this time.

I have also had some bits anodised black. This will hopefully save me having to polish them! and i think they will look good with the white and "titanium" paint

I have also had to buy some new mud flaps, to comply with the stupid MSA ruling for this year. I had already made some new ones up in black to replace the original blue ones. I had even made them a lot bigger, manly for a bit of visual impact! But they still were too small.

Feel quite motivated with it all at the moment, so i will be back out on it this weekend fitting all the bits above.

I've also bought new bushes and rubbers for the pedal box. Whilst thats out, i will swap all the bushes over and hopefully that will stop the pedals wobble from left to right by about 40mm at the tip of the pedals!

              Roll on Friday night

                Re: My MK2 Rally car

Spent today out on the car and managed to make some progress.

Fitted some conical washers on the suspension top mount bolts. You can just see the oil pipes coming through the bulkhead.

Fitted the newly anodised mudflap brackets to the rear quarters. By luck the postman brought me the anodised bolts this morning that i ordered in the week. I've got to make some MSA compliant [ fookin massive ] mud flaps at some point, and throw out these. Need to read the blue book first to work out how big they should be.

I've also fitted the new wheel nuts all round.

Then spent most of the afternoon in the boot. Fitted the wiring, rear lights with new rubbers, number plate, dry sump tank, catch tank, fuel pump & filter, fuel tank, fuel lines, oil lines, and one exhaust mount which is under the oil tank.

Got the oil and fuel lines through inside unto the front bulkhead. Spent about an hour looking for the fire extinguisher mount which i've managed to lose somewhere in the garage still didn't find it either.

Oh and in the middle of all that one of the neighbours kids, decided to somehow set his moped on fire So i had to use my handheld extinguisher to put it out for him!

                          Re: My MK2 Rally car

                          I'm in East Dorset.

Didn't get much done today due to the rain, but i have stripped the whole pedal box down. I decided that as i'm replacing the cylinder seals, bushes and wavy washers, i may as well get it powder coated so its all like new. Although i expect i will regret it when it comes to putting it back together and trying to set it up!

I also remade one of the ends on the braided clutch pipe. As when i took it out, it twisted round a couple of time and caused it to kink.

and also having less time to spend on it at the moment due to work..

Lol yer, i may be doing shows for the first few months, then it'll be in the forrests lol..

I was wondering where you got your bonnet hinges from??

                              Cheers

Trouble is you need to go to work to pay for it all!

My hinges are the ones i had, i just drilled them out and painted them black. I've got some hinges somewhere if you need a pair?

I see Roger is having some fantastic results now with his Volvo motor in it. What box is he running with the new engine?
