    Re: My MK2 Rally car

Well another two days on the car and i've done bits that i can't remember as they are so minimal - but at least they are done what ever they were!!

I've fitted new front discs and regreased the front wheel bearings.

I had bought a new fuel rail with -6 ends on, as it seemed a bit pointless to have them everywhere else in the car and then have trusty jubilees on the rail. I also bought a new fuel pressure regulator to fit on the end of the rail to tidy it up a bit.

I spent most of this morning prepping the exhaust for a repaint.

I have also made a bracket to hold the washer bottle on the back of the navigators foot rest and fitted the nav's horn button.

Ive also changed a few bolts for new ones that shine () on the cam cover, and the strut top mounts.

Still not started writing the list yet ! - But i'm not far of having to as i seem to be doing a bit all of the place! I need a system!

Tomorrow i plan to make a new centre console and finish wiring all the dash up including the gear indicator

        Re: My MK2 Rally car

Thank Gary - I will have to do some head scratching as there is no where that is really obvious as to how to fix a bracket to it. It does seem a little fragile though!

        Another one for the list!

          Paul

What Gary is probably saying that for is because my first outing with my Duratec at Pembrey I had a Female-Female -6 joiner that my reg mounted on and it snapped off leaving me with fuel pouring UP the windscreen as fast as the pump could pump!!!!! To say I sh*t myself is an understatement. I just hit the kill switch and coasted to a halt in front of a marshalls post.

Yours looks like a BSP to -6 steel fitting but it may still be a bit too much weight on the ali fuel rail. Mine is mounted on a little ali angle bracket on the inner wing with -6 hose linking it. Cost a bit more but I nearly learnt the hard way. The warning was taken!!!

Thanks Muckerbarry! I think thats what i will be doing to gain the extra bit that i need.

Not sure what the Brembos are off. For some reason i think a Peugeot 406 coupe - but i don't know why i think that! !

Whats the spec of your car then and have you got a thread anywhere on it?

                  Re: My MK2 Rally car

It’s a Toyota 20 valve 4age engine MK2, I started with a mint LHD Dutch shell, 6-linked it, multilink cage atlas, bilsteins, all the usual stuff. I’ve been building it for the last 2 years it seems to be never ending! Finally on the home stretch now, had it painted in May so just doing the final assembly at the moment, I hope to have it out before the end of the year, the first event I had planned to do (the Halloween stages rally) has been cancelled so its first outing will probably be a rally sprint or a mini stages rally which suits me fine, I’ve navigated a few times before but this is my first rally car so I’m jumping in at the deep end big time, hopefully I’ll be able to keep it between the ditches, but most importantly I hope I’m not too slow....

No build thread yet, I’m a computer programmer by day so the last thing I want to do in the evening is sit at a computer again, I also use the excuse that I should be out in the shed working on the car rather than uploading pictures, but really it’s because I’m lazy and I’d rather look at other peoples cars!

muckerbarry If you can get a photo that would be helpful, but i think i understand what you mean.

A quick note for the people wishing to compete in Belguim.

Not only are the requirements for a 4 litre plumbed in system, BUT when we went to Monteberg this year the scrut told me that my extinguisher bracing was illegal. The 3 straps with the clips shown in the above quoted post are no longer permitted under FIA.

I was told that owing to an accident when one became loose, they no insist on strapping the extinguisher in with 10mm bolts to secured the straps together.

Now 10mm sounds like way over kill and he may have got that wrong, but anyway, bolted they must be, which brings me to the post below.

                          Re: My MK2 Rally car

I got the system from montgomery motorsport in northern Ireland about 2 months ago, it came with the bolted straps and bracket pictured.
