Re: DW's (new?) Sierra N/A PINTO race car
Right a few panels inc. doors, tailgate, bumpers etc are ready for the painter this week so I thought I'd get the bonnet finished too by fitting the NACA duct that will feed the airfilter along with the duct above the rad (plenty cold air)
I measured carefully on the bonnet to mark where the airfilter will sit on the TBs and got the NACA duct template I'd made as close to the right position as possible without going across the bodyline on the bonnet.
Had to chain drill parts and hand cut it as my jigsaw's died and the airsaw is several miles away (I'm impatient to get these bits off to Ray the painter)
It came out fine though and all rubbed down nicely. Just need to put some countersinks in it to pull it down nice and flat, but it fits a treat

Re: DW's (new?) Sierra N/A PINTO race car
Hmmmm, Jenveys
As well as the 45mm throttle bodies I also picked up a nice dry sump kit, ultralite flywheel and a few other goodies. Thanks to the chaps in Burtons, as ever very helpful
I'm well pleased with the way the filter sits to, within a mm of the turret, although i just need to change the backplate as the spacing on the inlet manifold is a bit strange.
I also countersunk and bolted the NACA duct in and fitted a 3rd bonnet pin to stop the centre of the bonnet trying to do an impression of a tent. Will get some better pics tomorrow..Last edited by david_white; 06-11-2008, 19:52.

Cheers Mark, slowly but surely. Just grabbing an hour or so on it when I can at the moment but it all adds up
Here's the NACA fitted as well as a rear window and the dash pod. Will get the rest of the windows in next.

Also picked up these goodies;
I think I need to get a different mounting bracket though, I'm pretty sure this one is for a 205 block which mine isn't. Need to have a look at a 205 block to be sure

Looks awesome that Dave, should sound absolutely sweet! That fuel injection will make for a lovely smooth engine, and will probably unleash a few horses over carbs.
How much was the dry sump? PM me if you don't want to share.Last edited by mervhill; 07-11-2008, 21:46.Comment

Re: DW's (new?) Sierra N/A PINTO race car
Dave you put that there 9 x 17's wheels. What offset are they?
How are they for a fit with the steel arches?
I'm looking to get some 8 x 17's for my 3 door. May go wider for the rear if i can get them to fit inside standard arches, as i don't have the cossie arch kit on.sigpicComment

Re: DW's (new?) Sierra N/A PINTO race car
Rob, the wheels are current touring car 9x17's supplied by Tony Ryan at www.touringcarspares.com. He can tell you more but I think the et is 23. They are very close to the leda coilovers so you may have trouble on normal legs but Tony would know. At the rear I could have got 10's under the arches with the right offset, but I am only running a pinto so the 9's are more than enough.
Not sure how much the drysump kit worked out Glenn, it was from Burtons though and it is a lovely bit of kit.
I did want the one with a sump mounted oil pump as this makes for the neatest installation but that wouldn't have cleared the steering rack, it might on an escort though

Your pump bracket looks the same as mine, but the single bolt on the right looks bigger!Comment

Re: DW's (new?) Sierra N/A PINTO race car
I think the block needs to be drilled and tapped as its only M8 atm I think. the lengths of the spacers may need adjusting aswell, maybe with washers.
I'll dummy fit it with M8's first just to see if the belt fits right and that the pump is straight.
