Thank you Ex! It was a funny feeling driving with no one infront of me... kinda liked that.

As they say, Pictures lie more than a thousand words. It looks like I've making good distance there but it was quit the opposite. Soon after this photo they were on me like flies on a cow dump. Nice pic though... I think I'll have this framed over the fireplace =)

            Thanks David
It really does look tiny. Like a gr1 car.

Heres a few more I found over the net. I also had an incar cam with me in the first race in the wet I hope I'll get my hands on the footage later.

Some incar footage of the last race. From the point of view of a R1 engine Sunbeam Imp. It really goes, despite the missed start he cought up really fast and led the race with ease untill the engine failure.

Thanks Graham. And like you, I did not have any issues with the new fuel set up.

I got a new sponsorship deal.

the new sponsor is http://www.speedimports.fi/ a finnish http://www.whiteline.com.au/ representative. Have a look yall.

What I'm particulary interrested for is the Whiteline 24mm fron antiroll bar for mk1. Which will soon be installed, tried , and tested.

Re: Escort Sigma 1600 Race Car

It was off with the front struts and off with the gear box again today. Decided to have a look at the on going gear oil leak. The last repair certainly has worked somewhat since it did not leak from the same place. It turned out it originally had two oil leaks and we'd fixed the more obvious. This second one was due to a poor work by a trusted gearbox guy. Leaked from the clutch shaft retainer gasket he had "changed" last summer. Using old gasket and some transparent inferior slicone sealer... well hopefully it'll now hold its liquire. Well it actually has a third leak from the rear planking plate above the output shaft.

The right hand front shock was weak. So we took both of them out to be taken to a suspension guy to be checked and repaired.

The engine mounts need to come undone in order to get the box out of the car. While undoing them I noticed the exhaust side engine mount had broken clean off The engine was slightly slant and leaning to the steering rack. I have no idea when thia has happend but two weeks back when I last put the engine in it was fine.

So the to do list for the next meeting goes:
                      - New engine mounts
                      - New ARB
                      - Service the front struts
                      - Fix the gear box oil leaks number 2 and 3
                      - New brake pads for the front brakes.

So I quess I wont get bored any time soon...

Where did it break? At a welded joint or somewhere else?

Broke next to the welding seam. Propably the too thin material got hardened and could not take the vibratios. It cant be broke due hhear torqie nor impact force. I think.....

                              Status update.

So the to do list for the next meeting goes:
                              - New engine mounts I've been putting this off, not very keen on this
                              - New ARB Ordered
                              - Service the front struts Beeing serviced as we speak. The right hand side was bent so needed replacing
                              - Fix the gear box oil leaks number 2 and 3 third attemp now seems promising. replaced the input shaft retainer seal and the rear plug in the tail and some RTV
                              - New brake pads for the front brakes. Well I found a new set of hawk pads in my spare box
                              - Addition: stiffer front springs will be tried on

You are about the 5th person I've heard of having problems with gearboxes only just rebuilt from Trans x , having previously bought one new from them . All saying it was the first time out with it since done. I use Brian Hill of BGH in KENT , an ex-RAF man and designed Caterham's 6 speed box. My box was out of a Caterham with Quaife internals 2.04 1st 1.54 2nd 1.213rd 1 to 1 4th plus the 5th . Not his own design but he rebuilt it for me with better oil delivery , bearings etc etc. Never had a problem with it since , he's absolutely totally reliable and must be the oldest engineer I know . Not sure what power and torque you're putting through your box but mine is 231bhp and 180lbft torque.
