Cheers Kev, don't worry too much for the moment though as not sure what we are doing now. We were looking at it yesterday and I think we're gonna make a bracket that bolts to the pedal and use an M6 bolt as a pin. Should be nice and strong that way

Bloody hell that is absolutely awesome Gary. You shouldn't show it off too much or everyone with a sierra will want one

With the new diff mount and the solid beam mounts the back end off the car should be miles better

        Cheers Gary

Re: DW's (new?) Sierra N/A PINTO race car

          To tighten up the front suspension I've added some poly anti-roll bar bushes to replace the old rubber ones;

Fitted on the car, note I also fitted M10 capheads as the origional M10's only have a 13mm head and are easily rounded off.

As you can see most of the floor has a coat of paint on it now which should help it to last a bit longer

Re: DW's (new?) Sierra N/A PINTO race car

Andy and Alex got the rest of the fuel and brake lines in along the tunnel yesterday and most of the fuel system is complete now. Just need to get a fuel regulator and make a cover for the exposed filler neck and pipes on the boot floor.

It looks like John (Pipe) has sorted the clutch pedal too by making a bracket to come off the top that has a pin threaded on both ends for an M6 nut keeping it more secure than a std setup. Will get pics tomorrow.

Big thanks has to go at this point to Andy, Alex, Ant, John and steve for they work on the car every weekend, rain or shine.
Plus also thanks to Graham Bahr, Gary, Ray and Fossie for their hard work to get this project to this stage
I know this build may look slow but trust me everyone is doing their bit to get the car out and I couldn't be happier with the way it's coming along, cheers chaps

Fuel lines and brake line in place

Sierra pedal box with modified escort clutch pedal. Distance between the pedals is still the same and the new cable holder can be seen at the top

All depends on budget really. We have virtually everything we need to finish it now, just gotta pick up a fuel regulator from Burtons and Tom is bringing down the diff and thats about it. We have to fit the remaining windows so hopefully the doors will get finished off at the painters this week.

All it will then need is an exhaust system (as basic as poss) and mapping

Re: DW's (new?) Sierra N/A PINTO race car

We had to take all of the gearbox back off yesterday as it turned out that the clutch release bearing was pushing on the clutch all of the time without the cable even fitted.
With the gearbox out the release bearing was taken off and a few mm was machined off of the alloy spacer. Andy and Ant carefully measured the spacing required on the clutch and with the bearing back on (about 5mm further) the whole lot was refitted and hey presto we have at least a couple of mm of free play. Although this was a bit of a pain to be redoing jobs it did mean that i could get the rest of the tunnel repainted, we cut a hole into the bellhousing to allow access when fitting the cable and also got the starter to fit better by taking a little out of the return on the bellhousing.
We also slightly modded the prop mounting for a better fit and got it nicely painted.

All in all a great days work that solved several problems at once and we now have the pedal box fitted with a fully operational clutch. Oh and we heat wrapped the cable too for obvious reasons

Re: DW's (new?) Sierra N/A PINTO race car

Pedal box all fitted, just need to fit stops and springs to it now. We are also missing the square circlip that holds the brake pushrod to the pedal. I must have left it on the old servo setup which has long since gone

Also got the rear wing fitted. It can be removed quickly if needed as we put clinch nuts onto baseplates which were then bonded into the spoiler

We also fitted a 3.5 bar webcon fuel regulator which means the fuel system is virtually ready to go now
