Re: DW's (new?) Sierra N/A PINTO race car

We finished fitting the whaletail today and made a brace for it to stop the tailgate squashing in the centre as it has no internal strenghtening. We also got the rear window in, held in with M5 bolts and managed to get the curve on it nicely. There are three 2" holes cut on each side of the window to stop pressure build up trying to pop it out.

Andy also got the sun strip fitted to the front screen

Cheers mate, the rear window is flat and by pulling it down tight with bolts in the right order it slowly takes shape.
It is from plastics for performance and i'm sure they do pre-shaped ones for most cars including the sierra but for a racecar they said this one would be fine as a sierra doesn't have a large amount of curvature. Plus i never intended to use the rubbers

The diff's back, and its in Cheers Tom.
Also fitted Gary's solid diff mount which all goes in a dream and means there is no more play in the back end now

Re: DW's (new?) Sierra N/A PINTO race car

I've now fitted all of the championship sponsers decals, well all apart from door sqaures (cos you need the doors to do those ones )

Fitted a set of new plug leads. These are Champion ones to fit an early Ka. They are a little long but I'm not worried as I made a bracket to hold them in place away from harm

Re: DW's (new?) Sierra N/A PINTO race car

Cheers chaps. Today we filled all of the fluids, engine oil, brake fluid, coolant, diff oil, gearbox oil and so far no leaks

Brakes bled up nicely and Andy has got the throttle cable and pull cables all fitted
Just need to find the doors and fit them up now and sort out the exhaust and the car can be put on the rollers. Steve should have a base map for us so we can get it running in the garage and check for leaks or anything loose before it goes up there.

Is the solid diff mount not going to just tear the floor where it mounts or is that strengthened too?

Its mounted to a xmember that seems pretty solid, I'm by no means the first person to do this though. If it does need strengthening it wont be the end of the world, there will no doubt be a few things for us to learn running a sierra rather than an escort.
The main advantage we have over all of the other sierra runners is that we are not trying to put 500+bhp through the back end so everything should be a bit less stressed.
