Dave - A very big well done to you and your team - I thought you had a cracking day / finishing both races / 2 signatures - it looked like you remembered to enjoy it as well well done - see you at Thruxton - Richard #90

Cheers mate, yeah had good grip from those tyres in the wet and could've pushed a lot harder, but how hard do you push it before it all goes wrong, especially as I'd seen a few cars go off already.
The main problem was visibility around the GP loop, I think the trees stop the water thats being lifted off the tyres from clearing so there is always a wall of mist to drive through. Hopefully no one suffered much damage and everyone drove very sensibly considering the conditions.

Are there many pinto engined race cars leftIt is good to see that there is plenty of life in the old boat anchor yet. What was the class that you were running in, What engines / cars would you be up against?

There are a few pinto powered escorts out there still, one of which i managed to out drag a couple of times. Alex Ribens probably has the quickest one around at the moment, the blue GP2 arched one.

The class I'm in caters for any car with its origional type of engine up to 2.0 with 8 valves, or 1.6 with 16 valves so there are also Novas, 205s etc which are very quick and Bill Richards KAD developement mini which is a 1480 16v and insanely quick.

Re: DW's (new?) Sierra N/A PINTO race car

Thanks again everyone, although I didn't really get much of a result on paper I'm still buzzing just to have got through the whole day and had so much fun in the car.

There is still more time to come in the car without radically altering anything so the only thing getting changed on it this week is a new capilary for the oil pressure gauge (braided aeroquip this time as last one split) and a small oil cooler. Apart from that its just a case of going through the car and seeing if we can lose any weight from it as it was dead on 1000kg on the weigh bridge at Brands and I was hoping it would be in the low 900's. All that will cost is a new airsaw and some time... although we ain't gonna lose 70+kg that easy just yet.
I was gonna remove the whaletail for the next meeting but I had such fun in qualifying seeing much faster cars like Bill Richards Mini getting blue flags waved at them as they had a fat looking cossie up their chuff (as they had just passed me the bend before )
Besides the whaletail is f/glass and about a 3rd of the weight of a std one anyway so I was just glad of the stability it was probably giving me through paddock bend.
