Re: DW's (new?) Sierra N/A PINTO race car
Got a bit done today, we spanner checked the whole car and I have now wire locked a few of the key bolts. much to everyones relief I also refitted the whaletail
Before Lydden i had cut out the spot lamp and indiator appatures. This left too big a hole either side for my liking so I fixed the indicators back in with tiger seal. Looking at it again today i realised that the led front lamps cold move to the spot lamp holes as this would brighten them up incase we have another dark/wet race before the end of the season. They are still bolted to the front panel so the bumper comes off without disturbing them. For next season we will run bigger lamps, either behind clear lenses or in pace of the leds in the bumper..
Andy fixed a broken wire on the alternator and i raised the catch tank a bit higher again as it had a little bit of oil in it after Lydden. Now the car is ready for silverstone and after a good wash next week it will be ready for battleridgeLast edited by david_white; 12-09-2009, 19:44.

Big thanks to the chaps at Burtons again, they took back my faulty oil cooler no problem and I replaced it with a few consumables as for this year I hope we won't need the cooler unless we have a freakishly hot october
For next season I will fit a setrab cooler which burtons can get or me. This will be a bit smaller (13 row as opposed to 16) and should fit nicer plus also it is a bit more heavy duty

Re: DW's (new?) Sierra N/A PINTO race car
Got some new springs fitted to the front today c/o Mr Bahr an Mr Pipe. They are similar poundage to before but are an inch shorter, plus I have removed the helper springs that made the old ones another 1/2" taller still.
The result is that we can run the car a lot lower now as before the platforms were nearly hitting the tyres, so for now we have set it around 10mm lower at the front which hopefully will improve turn-in and give the front a little bit of camber.
We did have to machine down the collars a little to get the springs to seat which is weird as they are 2.5" springs which is what I would assume Leda use
Anway the whole car is not only ready to race next week at Silverstone GP but is also nice and clean for the battlesbridge show tomorrow
