Re: DW's (new?) Sierra N/A PINTO race car

Steady progress continues, we now have the extinguisher fitted along with its cables, just waiting for some new pipe to plumb it all in, which is pretty straight forward.
Also fitted the drivers floor plate to raise the floor by about an inch. This is covered in grip tape and I've also stuck some of the tape to the passengers side to keep the floor tidy on that side for when we have a passengers seat on trackdays.

Pedals are all fully operational now and final fine tuning of the throttle and clutch cables is complete. The brake pedal now has its clip and spacer fitted to the pushrod and brake pedal feels perfect

Re: DW's (new?) Sierra N/A PINTO race car

Andys Dad John has made a box to cover the fuel lines and fuel filler in the boot. The push on fittings and filler neck are not allowed to be open inside the car so this box seals it all off nicely.

We have now tested both the low and high pressure fuel systems and apart from one braided line doing a good impersonation of a spinkler system (duly found and replaced, thank god ) all of the fuel system operated well

The black bracket on the rear panel is to support the weight of the whaletail via a rod bolted to the bottom of the tailgate.

It should be ok Jezza as they have a couple of chicanes at combe now to slow it a little. i have only driven it years ago without the chicanes but it is a fun circuit, you just have to watch out for some of the bumps on the straight
Be good to have a see your car there although I may have to remove my whale tail so that i can see you getting smaller
Have you done any more to yours, should go very well at Lydden i'd have thought

Re: DW's (new?) Sierra N/A PINTO race car

I have just got the new seal for the gearbox so i can put that on we are going to fit a slightly bigger flywheel and clutch i have a 190mm one at the moment but i am going to fit a 200mm one that i wrongly bought a while back it just means Andy is going to lighten a new flywheel for it ,he is also looking at trying to make a new quickshift for it as the gearchange is the worst thing on the car at the moment but i am not sure if that will be done in time i hope it will as i couldnt get 2nd at the hairpin at the top of the hill last time i was at llyden and i think it was costing a bit of time as it was coming off cam so was going a bit flat, there is talk of a new engine aswell but i am not sure when that will be done

Exactly that, will try to get the car finished by saturday and ready to have the exhaust fitted after the weekend, then its a case of whenever it can be fitted in for mapping before the trackday

                          The car's come along great

A bit disappointed at the whale tail and lack of povo-spec grille though

I get out voted on these sort of things but I do like the look with both grilles. The whaletail is quick (ish) release so that we can test with and without it

Windows went in a treat after a bit of trimming and we also went to Burtons and picked up a couple of silencers and a load of 2.5" pipe and bends. Hopefully enough to build a system.

We were going to recycle my old ashley 2 1/4 system from the zetec escort install but we couldn't get the bends we wanted apart from 2" or 2.5" but as it worked out the silencers we've bought look a better quality anyway and as they are new should last a while
