Listen everyone I've had enough. What i do in Andys chequered underpants is my business and between me and the dry cleaners.

Roger thanks for advice, we have everything sorted and have a van full of spares, although even after the team has spent over 15 years racing you can never prepare for every scenario. I'd like to think that we always go well equiped and i'm sure that a few other teams and drivers would vouch for that too as we are never shy about working on anyones car if we can to help them get out on track

Re: DW's (new?) Sierra N/A PINTO race car

What car was it that hit the tyres at Snetterton.. Golf wasnt it?

We all jumped of the wall, i've gone over the front suspension and steering.. Dave and Steve checking the panels, a bit of tugging, kicking, and just as we are cable tieing the fans back in place John came over and said ....

"what ya doing his in class D "

we all just walked away to the shock of the driver and his mate ..

Only Joking, walked back and finished the repairs and off he went to finish the race..

                  Or

The time Andy got hit by Jon Crosses Merc.. all tonne and half of V8 Engined, Nascar framed bulk of it.
A pillar, a few mm back, B pillar up to the cage, door stoved in and the less said about the 18" gash through the inner and outer sills from Jon's towing eye the better.. 2 hours and the car looked as if a bit of T cut would have sorted it .. ok maybe G3

                  Or
The Halfshaft snappage in qualifiying .. 30 mins before the race.. takes 10 minutes to get the car back in the paddock.. jack up, take out shafts .. take out diff ..remove broken stub of shaft..refit diff and N/S shaft ..drop that side of the car and while andy is getting belted back in the oil goes in down the tube..refit that shaft as Andy fires the engine .. startline marshall is looking nervous.. caliper back on and wheel back on .. Andy rejoins at the grid ..and the race starts ... 2 minutes late i believe (cheers Graham )

Do we Panic.. no.. do we fix it .. yes ..

Of course ..we cant carry every spare, engines and gearboxes etc are just out of the reach of clubman racers.. luckily we have good connections with bot the Engine Builder, HT Racing, who always delivers the engine back in time for the next race and the Gearboxman who turns it around in 2-3 days .. But theres always that spare part that can let you down, and its normally the one thing that you never even think about, normally electric

Well I am a mechanical engineer and have built a few cars from scratch now
I have built my own engines, gearboxes etc in the past but at this level of racing theres no way I'd do my own so we go to a small selection of highly skilled people for jobs like this, but running and maintaining the cars is all us (virtually every weekend)

Interior all done, just need to re-tidy some of the loom once it has all been mapped and tested

Oh and need to properly label the switch box.

You gotta have a steering wheel hook

Thanks everyone for the kind words, the car as I say is done now apart from mapping it and everything is booked to get me out on track.
If everything comes together then I'll be out at Brands on the 1st of Aug and after seeing the awesome performance of Mr Bahr yesterday at Lydden it gives me more hope that we can get the sierra to be competitive in a class where lightweight fwd cars are often the quickest
