Correct spring rates!
Have you been out testing already?
As Andy says we had a figure in mind for the springs and as luck would have it we didn't have to look too far to find them.
The ones that were on the car are still an option but they will probably work better on Andy's car as it is lighter, especially with the little xflow up front.

With the amount of bits that you've borrowed you should of just fitted the pintosaurus into Andys' Escort and raced it Dave
PS: Get entered for the 31st you'll be ready!
Cheers Nick, lets hope its ready, we only really have the rest of the windows and the diff to fit now, along with a couple of mods to the rear suspension. It can then go off for an exhaust and then mapping
We could have fitted Linford into Andy's car but the plan is to get the sierra out on track and reliable and then start to think about giving the escort a bit of a rebuild ready for when it comes out again. As both cars are built with a similar ethos in mind i think any developement we gain this year on either will benefit both cars ready for 2010.

A few more bits to update this weekend. Andy's Dad has finished lots more alloy plates for us, including the filler cap blanker, lots of bulkhead plates to cover up the larger holes, the gearstick gator surround and some loom grommets.
We also replaced the large rubber bushes in the rear beam for much more circuit friendly solid billet items. These, along with a solid diff mount, will really tighten the rear suspension up. Rear springs seem to be about the ballpark figure we were looking at so those have stayed on and whilst workingon the back of the car Ant managed to remove the nasty brake disc back plates.
I also replaced any damaged wheel studs for new (long) ones and have got 2/3 of the bottom of the car in primer ready to stick a coat of white repaint on later in the week. That should keep the floor in decent condition for a couple of years and over next winter I'll properly strip and repaint all of the rear suspension or fit a tubular rose jointed 6 deg beam depending on budget.
Thanks again to Matt Downing for the revcounter, it looks great and i can see all of it when fitted at a slight angle Cheers

As you might notice from the above pic the pedal box is still out of the car. This is because we have been sorting the clutch pedal out. As std the sierra pedal has the plastic ratchet thingy and no adjustment at the bellhousing on the cable. The ratchet would be too weak for a race clutch and not ideal to adjust so we have managed to fit an escort mk2 clutch pedal and have a capri 2.0 clutch cable which from memory is a bit longer than an RS2000 one (to keep it further away from the manifold).
Only problem is we dont have the plastic horseshoe shaped clip and pin that hold the cable into the pedal so unless we can find one we may have to make a steel bracket and use an M6 shanked bolt as the pin.. Anyone have any other ideas or how they've done it??
I'm busy with the rear diff for this baby right now...
It's a 7.5" Sierra Cosworth housing (blasted and chemically cleaned) painted an exciting shade of matt black. It was going to be something eyecatching, like pink, but decided matt black is better for dissipating heat etc...
Anyways, we're going for a 4.3:1 ratio, to give that little Pinto a chance
Here we're just doing a dummy build, can't show any pics of the LSD yet, partly because it's Top Secret but mostly because I forgot to take any pics of it... Watch this space.
thats coming along tom... it is the only main component missing off the car now really yer it will look better in black
car is coming along nicely now, and everything is being done properly
