      Re: DW's (new?) Sierra N/A PINTO race car

      The welding in of more material was where i was heading ... ie a little drop down the side of the tunnels and a 90 return into the floorpan to provide a suitable flat mount surfave for the 3mm steel folded side mount brakets to suit the aftermarket side mounted seat.

      "it is prohibited to cut any holes or remove any fixed panels from the standard floor pan"

      Its not a panel..its a x-member ..

        That said, i know what you mean about pushing the boundaries of the rules, and the DMN rules are pretty good,

                    As far as I know Dave the car has never had a back seat in its life so i don't think the bits you're talking about are there

                    The seat xmember is a bit taking the pee to remove completely and as far as I can see drilling holes in it everywhere isn't allowed either. No I'm just gonna start at the back of the car and work my way through just removing small brackets and stuff like that but i'm never gonna drastically alter the theme of the car from being a sierra as at the moment I can enter many different championships and run loads of different engines depending on the class I'm entering.
                    I don't wanna go the route of an all or nothing super modified class A car as 1 rule change down the line can effectively render the car obsolete

                        Ah I know what you mean, the cube shaped bit. I might remove them if i can get some of the paint to tidy the area up, most of the bits to remove are under the car though.

                        Strut brace has already gone after that pic too which saves a little..

                            Re: DW's (new?) Sierra N/A PINTO race car

                            Just done a morning test session at brands to get a bit more bum in seat time before we head off to lydden on the 5th of sep.
                            Did a couple of sessions equivalent to 2 races and a qualifying nearly and despite the traffic out there (E36 M3s everywhere ) I was quite pleased with the results.

                            There are a couple of corners, Paddock and Surtees, where I need slightly bigger balls and one or two bends where a little bit more set up time would have helped but as there was only me and Alex it wasn't the time to start making loads of adjustments.

                            All in all though for my first ever timed laps of brands indy I thought this was pretty ok, but either way the car performed great and it was huge fun;

                            Thanks again to Alex for coming along and helping out

                                Only when i give him his car back

                                It will be a while before the car is as quick as all of the escorts but it is certainly a bit closer than we thought
