Re: Escort Sigma 1600 Race Car

Oh dear - what a sad sight
Sorry to see this, Markus. Though it seems it was working well until the mis-shift (it certainly sounded nice )
I don't think anyone would blame you if you close the workshop door and walk away from it for a while...!

What a shame really feel for you mate. Just hope you can salvage as much as possible from it and source a piston easily.

Just dismantled the head I'll send it to the experts tomorrow. Hopefully w'ell get a good verdict on it soon. I also need to order four valves. The buckets 12 valves cams springs all look fine to me.

I believe it comes down to the pistons then...

Nah not yet Dave. I may well have to If I can't source a piston anywhere but as for now I need to plough on.
It was just sooo fantastic to drive. I want more!!

Good to hear it will be going back together again soon and that it drove very well for you, jsut aswel you got a few laps out of it before the trouble as at least you know that it was performing well and what to expect after the rebuild, good luck with it

Hi Rich good to hear from you.

Yes, this is not the way I planned the start of the season. But I'm very lucky to have such great friends. The Barracuda blokes I share the paddock tent with really pulled some strings to get the head under work immediately. And Jon really went out of his way to help me out with the piston. And this time I do not need to depend on others than me to get the car in the grid. Once its all rebuilt that is. I mean I do not need to re do the tracking or book it for rollers. Just put it together and enjoy it again. Even have the gasoline ready for the next event.

                        Thanks Jason!

Only hope the head is still intact and could be salvaged. Chances are thay find some terminal flaw in it that I've missed, but fingers crossed.

It sure did drive well. It really pulled and cornered nicely. I almost changed my opinion about the track the car felt so good. This particular track is jinxed for me. Something always goes wrong there. Always. I've even crashed a caravan to a tunnel roof there once
And dropped the car from the jack and pressed the oil pan against the oil pick up pipe

Scary thing is we have the season finals there this year....

The engine sounds pretty awesome in the video.

Thanks Ari ! But it hardly compares to the billet monster Pinto. But I like the sound of it too.

We'll sure try but one month is by no means a long time for such a project. Its pretty much up to the welding and machine shop. I should have all the parts for the head early next week. And for the bottom end by the end of next week. But as soon as have all the parts back to me it's only a matter of reassembling it and if needed it can be done in the night time.
Or I may get the flu and call in sick =)

I missed your Capri last weekend. Is it not ready yet or were you in graduation partye?

I have had some trouble with the new ignition system.
                              Trigger wheels and hall-sensors ....
Engine fired up first time 2 weeks ago.
But now everything seems to be allright.
I have dyno time 22.6 at Rasmus Speed , Vantaa Korso .
