Re: DW's (new?) Sierra 3dr YB race car

Ive just found a mk1 hatch. Think I'll lighten up the steel one. Not going to light weight on mine as its still got the glass windows in. All the body kit and bumper are now fiberglass. Was going to get a fiberglass bonnet too but they are not cheap.

My bonnet is also single skin from smith and deakin, wasnt too dear but neither panels have much strength, fine for a racer though. I have a spare metal tailgate with glass if you ever need it.
Cut the inners out and maybe add some vent holes to the bonnet and the metal panels will be pretty light fit perspex if you want to save a chunk of weight though

Dont want to try and get the rear 1/4 windows out, as the trims are mint. Heard they fetch a bit of money these days. Also looking out for some wide 17" 8 to 9". Seems like yours fit the arches nice.

Cheers mate, certainly doing my best to get it done.
After some shopping today it now means that I have a new HP 2wd oil pump, 4x4 mahle turbo pistons and I have fitted a new 3 bar map sensor, amal valve and a few other little bits. Not many bits of the puzzle missing now, just need to get it all up to Graham.
Getting some nice bits made by Doug @ G19 too which will certainly be the icing on the cake...

Does anyone know if 2wd cams will go in a 4x4 head, I know that 4x4 cams need a spacer for a 2wd head so logic would suggest that doing it the other way around would mean taking a bit off the cams?

Not many 9" wheels around, mostly touring car suppliers like dynamics. Worth keeping an eye on ebay as a lot of circuit cosworths run this size now, although team dynamics wheels are pretty good value new.

Thats one reason i was thinking of fitting some 5 stud hubs i have, then trying for some german or jap spec stuff.

I have seen a few 5 stud touring car wheels too, like the team aon focus throwbacks...

                            Thanks Mark, how you keeping?

There has been more progress lately, especially with the engine. Will get some pics up in due course. basically once the block has had a bore and a skim Graham should be able to start the assembly of it. I have in the mean time sourced all of the ancillaries I was missing and Doug at G19 has made me up some lovely parts, so with a bit of luck we're not too far off now.
