After a few months of collecting bits to rebuild the cossie, I now have everything needed so I took the engine out of DVY and shipped everything off to HT





I hope to be out again later in the year

Hi,

Yes I'm out in DVY...

Got the engine back from HT the other week but only had time to drop it into the engine bay as I've been busy welding up the van - a previous owner's bodge of filling the rusty sills and rear chassis with expanding foam had fallen apart

So I took the week off and the van passed the MOT last night

Today's job was to finish connecting up the engine and she was running this afternoon. With a new set of pistons and a fresh block, Ron had recommended I run it in for an hour, so I pootled up the A38 to Stroud and back, gradually building the revs, did about 45 miles in the hour and then had a further 10 minute blast and some practice launches Not having driven her since March, I forget how well she goes

A few bits left to do tomorrow, such as swapping the springs to the harder single venue ones and loading up the van, then I'll be ready for 3 days at Fat Albert - setting up Friday, competing Saturday, clearing up Sunday

I'm seeded 21 out of 80 with about 30 in my class, I just want a good run without any problems

That was a fun day out, great to have DVY back to normal, good oil pressure, didn't use any oil or water, just added petrol and changed the tyres once, perfect

Well done to all the marshals for standing out in the cold wind all day so we could enjoy ourselves

I had a slow start having not driven the DVY since March, but by stage 3 we were up to the usual speed, only problem was a smashed headlight and indicator after I mowed down a few cones evading a Nova that didn't see us coming past, decided the cones were safer than a bit of door-handling as I was doing over 100 at the time

Pleased with 14th and 5th in Class, thanks to Carrie for getting a licence just to do the event, it was 8 years since she was last in DVY, and 5 years since her last stage event and she had a very enjoyable day

car was looking well and going well to was some quick gear there again can't believe how many clicky boxes there are now i feel left out !

Car was sounding lovely all day gavin :o), i wasnt entered as did a road rally the friday night, but dad was car 22 in the 205 starting behind you, spent all day unable to get heat in the rear tyres so spent more time facing the wrong way or reversing out of scenary!
Pleased the new engine ran faultlessly

That's strange, my last post was in car from West Cork last year, and yesterday I got home from this year's event



Had a great event this year, we were 42nd overall, so another finishers mug to add to my collection

Yes when I've recovered - we did nearly 2 hours of rallying over the weekend so will take me some time to go through it all
