I have given it alot of thought. I guess at the end of the day theres no way of knowing wheter the missing rivet had anything to do with the failure. It certainly was not in the air box. But could it keep the vavle enough open to cause collision with the piston.... It seems unlikely to me that a rivet could snap a valve or cause such a damage.
Perhaps iif it found its way in to the valve relief between the valve and piston @ TDC causing a kink or fracture to the valve and the revs did the rest....never know
