if you take a look at this pic with the cam on overlap, not only can you see how much the inlet valve is open but you can see quite a bit of the exhaust valve and the white area towards the top right of the red box is the workshop wall!

Great work there Graham, must be a relief to get the engine in the car at last.

Whats left to do, i take it a lot of the remaining plumbing carries over from the last setup?

some of the plumbing carries over,

still to do is the plumbing,

modify the ecu loom to fire 8 injector,

              fit the induction system

              fit the exhaust manifold

              make an exhaust system,

              source/make some 50mm ram pipes

a little more progress, i fitted the oil tank and finished the dry sump pumping which included the remote filter as its only just sitting in plce in the previous pic, primed the pump and cranked i over, the oil was obviously cold but became up to 35psi on the starter,

the i walked around the front of the car and saw a pool of oil on the o/s no where near any of the oil fittings, after a WTF, i realised the oil came out the exhaust manifold stud holes in the head panic over, the exhaust stud holes break into the oil return in the head so if a stud is missing then out poors out, and i havnt yet fitted any studs

Good stuff. I re-read this thread the other day at work (don't tell the boss) and it's amazing the amount of work you have put in

It also you mention a 2002? I don't supposed you have any more info or pictures do you?

Anyway, keep up the good work and best of luck for the new season

using a bit of alloy angle and a yb fuel rail, i 've knocked up a second fuel rail assemble so i can run 8 injectors

heres my much modified pinto ashley 3 piece, which is now a bmw 4 piece

funds are very low now so the exhaust system was a case of build it out of what i had, in this case an escort 2 1/4 system, it might be a bit small for my engine, but it was free, only time will tell its its actually too small, with a 2.0 version of this engine i did try both 2.25 and 2.5 inch systems, the 2.5actually gave less power in most tests, although it did give a fraction more if you got the intake length just right

finally after a trip to emerald, where dave had a fiddle with my ecu then carl had a fiddle with my lap top i was able to talk to my ecu and start my engine

it wasnt easy to start, with a totally different engine configuration and radically different injector sizes, it really didnt want to play ball until i had a eureka moment, and stopped playing with the low comp turbo bmw map and installed a 200bhp xe map

Good stuff Graham, if you need any more 2 1/4 exhaust stuff i still have some bits at home. Are you only running one box in the system, as this is what i am planning to do with the sierra
