I do read your "drivvel" Graham.
I don't often comment as generally I don't know what it is you are doing
Keep at it, and keep posting.
Hopefully I will get to come and see you racing at some point this season.

yeah it would be nice to see a few more ts members at meetings especially as there are so many of us actually competing or crewing for the drivers

i sorted out a new battery tray and retaining stap, as it broke free once or twice in a race last year the nice thing now will be i can change battries without using any tools once i change the terminals to quick release type, and not running an alternator means i do a lot of battery swapping.

done a bit of plumbing now, tanks strapped in pumps are in, although i need to change the swirl pot, as you can see i have actually reused the facet, flow testing the pump on its own it actually pumped far more fuel than facet claim, but i suppose thats because it doesnt have a restriction to pump against unlike when being used with carbs, so i've stuck with it, it wont keep up with the main pumps and injectors once the injectors reach about 75% duty cycle, but i dont see that as an issue because they are never going to be open that much for more than 10 seconds at a time so the reserve of fuel in the swirl pot will keep the engine supplied

i have been working on the car, although progress has been slow and theres little to see, most of the glazing is back in and most of the plumbing done, the exhausts back on

i've nearly finished rewiring the car, its one job i really wish i hadnt started right now its taking forever, this car has a lot pf electrics for a race car

Graham, Certainly looks different to the last time i saw her!!!.........sorry it's been so long BTW.

What i love is the way so many parts / manufacteurers go into making a BMW.......now where did i put my spare 'alternator brackets?'

Keep up the good work and hoping we get the chance to catch up......I think Ella / Charlie quite fancy a day at the races.

Re: a very powerfull and troublesome bmw 316

sorry for the lack of updates time is getting really short, but it now lives!

actually this is second time round, i fired it up yesterday and it had a horrible knock, rather big end like

although i new it couldnt be, after much head scratching i came to the conclusion that the bigend caps were hitting the scraper plate in the sump, which as rather baffling for a while because the sump is unclanged from last year, then i thought about the gaskets, the new sump gasket was cork, after retreveing bits of gasket from the bin i realised the cork gasket was half the thickness of the old one,

actually as the engine ran it quitened down a bit, did a dare leave it to sort itself out? after all it could only barely be touching or would that just fill the oil with swarf, hmm times a problem as sump off is either an engine out job or drop all the front suspension, either being a real git, eventually i decided i would have to have a look, after dropping lower well off the sump, i took out the steering rack, removed the oil pump and managed to wiggle the upper part of the sump out, sure enough the ends were hitting it, which was soon fixed with a big hammer, finding i didnt have any gaskets to put it back together i made some from some thick card in best hot rodding tradition

The sump issue had to be addressed Graham! These are the things which suck up the time and are not budgeted for. Better safe than sorry after the effort you have put in. Looks good though and you have put in a lot of work to get this done!

rolling road tomorrow, car still hasnt got most of its panels fitted, time is o so short now im having to cut some serious corners in terms of car prep in the cosmetic dept, so much so that im about to go and spray paint on top of still wet primer ( which has runs in it!) which went on top of filler work that wasnt finished, not even got time for anything to dry as i start work in under an hour
