Re: A race bmw 316, 240bhp Atmo M10 now going s14 power!
one thing i haddnt checked was whether the rods would still clear the sump, so i put the sump on without a gasket, nothing appeared to touch so i guess with a gasket it would all deffo clear
LOOK a complete engine,
it gets better still, its now on its mounts and gearbox
so a good amount of progress, now all i got to do it get it running, roling road is bok for just over a weeks time, only drawback being im working every day between now and then, i can feel an order for some midnight oil being needed, do tescos sell it i wonder

Don't undercut yourself there, you got the same results power wise from the M10 as lester said was achieveable
engine looks good, the bay looks a bit empty though, any thoughts on what the engine's going to like? the bay will be too empty without any trombones.

Looks really good. Engine looks at more of an angle or is it just the TBs?
Are you still using all 8 injectors, I guess you won't know where to position them until the trumpet lengths are set..

engines at the same angle, but port face on the engine is at a different angle so yes the bodies are tipped up more, plus i also milled the manifold at an angle

Last time I went to see Lester he was building an engine for Carlos Sainz brother....he also had 3 M12 engines lined up. Felt a bit of a cheap skate just asking him to sort my head ready for domed pistons that he had lying around. Still gave me the time of day though, he is an old skool legend. Swaps a lot of work with John Millington I here?
Lester told me that you should get 238bhp tops out of an NA 8v M10 so you did very well with your's mate!!
Re: A race bmw 316, 240bhp Atmo M10 now going s14 power!
what's the maximum bonnet bulge allowed?
to me the TB's look to be at about 50 degrees, and say the trumpets are only 6"/15cm long, from the top of the TB's the end of the trumpets would rise a minimum of 11.49cm, that's without any end plate or filter etc. say it wants 12"/30cm trumpets the end of the trumpets then rise up 22.98cm from the TB's.
