it's the atomisation of the fuel which is important airflow isn't the issue with current arrangement, where the fuel ends up due to being buffeted by air is. the halfords sign helps by making sure the fuel doesn't get buffected away from the trumpets, and still has the chance to atomise and blend.
it doesn't need air going directly over the trumpets, due to the fact that they pull air in, and most of the places we go, there tends to be air in the vicinity of the engine bay
