Re: A race bmw 316, 240bhp Atmo M10 now going s14 power!
Sorry to hear about the head being scrapped, but sure the next one will be even better!
I just found some very good information about head porting etc for this engine here: http://www.metricmechanic.com/pdfs/m...ne-booklet.pdf
It may come in handy for you later on, port dimensions and flow graphs are all in there"Horsepower sells cars, torque wins races" - Enzo FerrariComment

Re: A race bmw 316, 240bhp Atmo M10 now going s14 power!
thanks jason, already got it saved!
they do have one or two strange ideas though, like replacing a duplex timing chain with simplex on a full race engine
maybe it was a one off but the port that broke through wouldnt of gone out the the bigger sizes the metric mechanics lot say
the whole thing has ground to a serious halt, heads are easy to find if you want the rest of an engine attached which i cant afford, several people have told me they have heads but no ones actually coming through with the goods, the big nasty swine flu has cut me down, so i havnt worked for over a week, and willl of cost me a couple of K in lost income with lost overtime and productivity bonuses, fardon still havnt dont my crank, with a shortage of time and cash i might just chuck the towel in for now and wait until i can afford to build the motor i want toComment

Get us a couple of pics of where you've broke thru Gra, our tig sets have very small angled heads so we can get in and out of pipes so we may be able to repair it for you, wont cost you anything eitherComment

Best to take it easy with that flu. Luckily I have not got it but a few family members have and it really takes it out of you.To finish first, you must first finishComment

This question has probably been asked already but:
Is it possible to fit an S14 engine into a Mk2 Escort? I got a rally prepped shell and am thinking about engines.Comment

Re: A race bmw 316, 240bhp Atmo M10 now going s14 power!
anythings possible as they say, although the s14 having a front well to the sump will make life difficult as will the fact the engine is canted over 30 degrees leaving little room for an exhaust in an escort,
its also an expensive engine to tune, in this instance a duratec would make a much better choiceLast edited by Graham; 21-01-2011, 15:38.Comment

hmm yeah, you're right.. especially now since off the shelf solutions exist for both duratecs and zetecsComment
